When you use PC specification tools, you may enter information such as software or applications, intended workloads, budget, preferred PC size or form factor, and other technical preferences needed to produce a recommendation.

If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, subject, message content and technical information associated with the request, such as an IP address.

Our hosting and security infrastructure may process IP addresses, browser and device information, request times, requested pages or API routes, and security or diagnostic logs.

Do not enter personal, confidential or client information into software fields.

We use technical requirements you provide to analyse workloads, calculate suitable budget ranges, select components, check compatibility and generate PC recommendations. For Desktop Spec Foundry, this includes the software, workload, target budget and desktop-size preference you submit to compare relevant pre-built desktop PCs. Our lawful basis is generally our legitimate interests in operating and improving PC Spec Foundry and, where applicable, taking steps at your request to provide the service.

If you enter software that PC Spec Foundry does not already recognise, the software name and relevant technical context may be researched automatically. The resulting technical workload profile may be retained so that the same research does not need to be repeated for future users. These profiles are intended to describe software requirements rather than individual users.

Contact details are used to respond to enquiries. Technical information may also be processed to prevent abuse, apply rate limits, investigate errors and security incidents, and maintain service reliability.

PC Spec Foundry uses automated systems and artificial intelligence to research technical requirements and help produce recommendations. Information you submit may therefore be processed automatically.

The service provides decision support. It does not make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, healthcare, legal rights or other matters producing significant legal effects about an individual.

Vercel: hosting, deployment, serverless infrastructure, security and analytics services.

Supabase: database infrastructure for catalogue data, technical component information and reusable software workload profiles.

OpenAI: artificial-intelligence services used for certain technical research and analysis. Software names and relevant technical context may be sent to OpenAI when required for a research task.

Resend: email-delivery services for the PC Spec Foundry contact form.

We do not sell personal information. We may use other suppliers where reasonably necessary to operate or secure the service, and will update this notice if that changes materially.

Contact enquiries: normally up to 12 months after the enquiry has been resolved, unless there is a legitimate reason to retain them longer.

Security and technical logs: normally up to 90 days where retention is under our control, unless a longer period is reasonably required to investigate a security incident, abuse, fault or legal issue. Infrastructure providers may apply their own documented retention periods.

Privacy-rights requests: records of a request and our response may normally be retained for up to 24 months so that we can demonstrate how the request was handled.

Software workload profiles: technical profiles are reviewed at least annually and may be kept while they remain accurate and useful. They are intended not to contain personal information. If personal information is identified in a reusable profile, it will be removed or the profile will be deleted unless there is a lawful reason to keep it.

Information required for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary. At the end of a retention period, information will be deleted, anonymised or reviewed for a justified extension.

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to be informed, request access, correct inaccurate information, request deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, obtain data portability where applicable, and exercise rights relating to certain automated decision-making.

These rights are not absolute and may depend on the lawful basis and circumstances of the processing. To make a request, contact info@pcspecfoundry.co.uk.

We will record the date a request is received, identify the information and systems involved, and respond without undue delay and normally within one calendar month. If we reasonably need information to confirm identity, we will ask only for what is proportionate to the request.

If a request is particularly complex or multiple requests are made, the response period may be extended where the law allows. If that happens, we will explain the extension within the initial one-month period.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances, and an absolute right to object to the use of personal information for direct marketing.

If you have concerns about how your information is used, please contact us so that we can investigate.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

PC Spec Foundry uses browser session storage to remember your Terms of Use acknowledgement while the current browser session remains open. This is a necessary local setting for the PC Spec Foundry, Desktop Spec Foundry and Laptop Spec Foundry builders, and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

PC Spec Foundry does not currently use advertising cookies or analytics cookies. We use Vercel Web Analytics in its cookie-free configuration to understand aggregate site usage.

If we introduce non-essential cookies, local storage or similar tracking technologies in future, this notice will be updated and consent will be obtained where required before they are used.
